Stone of planar stabilization
A fist-sized isometric cube of pure graphite. A protective fitted leather pouch with laces allows attachment to belt or exterior of pack.
Because graphite is highly anisotropic to electromagnetic and sonic vibrations, the presence of a sufficiently sized pure cubic sample produces a polarization effect in the space-time of any localized extradimensional space such as a portable hole or bag of holding.
This polarization allows two such extradimensional spaces to be positioned in a nested, overlapping, or touching position without invoking the typical mutually assured destruction.
The positioning of the cube must occur simultaneously with the overlaying of the two extradimensional spaces, and is a delicate matter requiring a successful DC 15 Dex check. Upon failure, both extradimensional spaces are destroyed in the usual manner.
A successful placement remains stable for 12-24 hours (d12+12), after which time it suddenly experiences catastrophic failure.
Removing the overlap is strongly recommended before 12 hours, but is a trivial matter of extricating the two extradimensional spaces, then removing the cube. This does not require a Dex check. A DC 5 WIS check may come into play for timing the removal in time.
